Alice – in Homeless Heros

Walking down the street, Alice looked through her bag, searching for a baggy, syringe, anything. Nothing. Seems like she’s all out. Feeling confident enough to stay visible, Alice walked, looking for someone to score off of. Maybe someone to steal from.
Nearing an alleyway she heard faint voices. Maybe these kids will be an easy target. Alice went invisible, and got a bit closer to the people standing in the alley. She listened carefully for a few seconds.
A place for people like us.. These guys must be like me.. But where could they be talking about. Alice thought for a minute, should she forget robbing these kids?
They don’t look like they don’t have much to take anyways. & I don’t think they’re users.
She decided to make herself visible, hoping to gain some more information from these people. Hoping not to startle them, she asked “Where are yous going?”

“Well really.. What else would you be doing anyways. It’s not like any of us have jobs, or lives.” Alice had a moment of deep depression, remembering everything she used to have, before this all happened. She looked at the “freaks” standing infront of her, they didn’t look all that dangerous. Maybe it was time to give someone a chance. “Would you mind if I tagged along? I don’t have anywhere to be. I’m just another freak, looking for acceptance..”
Acceptance, thats one thing. Even if people like us were accepted, people like me wouldn’t be. No one wants to be with an addict. No one wants to help an addict either. But maybe these guys wouldn’t mind.

“Alice.. Who the hell are you?” She replied to the dog. Alice had no idea that dogs had such an attitude problem. “I overheard your conversation, so I stood by for a few minutes to listen in.” Alice knew the dog was talking about her curse, her invisibility. Either way, they didn’t need to know too much.
But Alice didn’t come over here to make friends, she wants to know about this place, this haven they’re talking about. It would be nice to have somewhere safe. Alice needed a fix too.. & She couldn’t wait much longer.
“So are you going to give me an answer now? ‘Cause if not, I can move right along.” There was no use staying around these kids if they didn’t giver her a reason.

Crossing her arms, Alice decided not to bother with Nikita. Instead she addressed the rumor that had her interested with these bums in the first place. “And you’re following this rumor? Seems a little unreliable to go off a story, don’t you think?” Either way Alice was interested. She had wanted acceptance, and maybe that’s what she would find. She didn’t know, neither did the two she stood with. “I haven’t heard anything about the place yous are talking about.. But I’ll take a chance on it. If that’s okay with you two,” Alice thought this conversation hand gone on long enough without a clear answer. Her tolerance was a bit low now, she was hurting. Alice didn’t care if they allowed her to join their search, she just wanted to get it over with. Even if she was denied, she could move on and find someone to steal from.
